Ridgefield School District offers language tests for high school credit

Ridgefield School District students in eighth through 12th grades may register for a language proficiency test to earn high school credit in a world language during the 2024-25 semester.

Registration for language proficiency tests is available by emailing heidi.smith@ridgefieldsd.org, or by calling 360-619-1318. A $30 fee will be required for the assessment, a news release by Ridgefield School District stated.
Students may earn a world language credit towards graduation and qualify for a Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma by earning a proficiency-based language credit, the release stated.



Students may earn up to four high school credits, depending on the level of proficiency demonstrated during the test. The proficiency test assesses listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in the chosen language. Students receive credits based on their lowest level of skill proficiency, the press release stated.

Language proficiency tests are available for Arabic, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Russian and Spanish languages, according to the release.

Testing will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 2:40 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, and from 8 a.m. to 2:40 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Ridgefield High School Career Center, 2630 S. Hillhurst Road, Ridgefield. An additional testing date at Ridgefield Middle School, 3215 S. Hillhurst Road, will be announced at a later date.
