The 7 p.m. start time for the Ridgefield versus Woodland boys varsity basketball game was in the rearview mirror as the junior varsity boys battled it out in double overtime, leading to a Spudder win on Thursday, Jan. 15.
The night began when Ridgefield JV coach Tanner Slag was surprised by his father, Jerome Slag, flying in from North Dakota to be a referee for the game. The night ended with the Ridgefield student section storming the court in celebration as the JV Spuds capped off a 66-63 double overtime win. The court storm for a JV game was loved by parents and fans in attendance, with some expressing how “cool” and “rare” that moment was.
