This high school sports year, North Clark County schools had a four-time wrestling state champion, a back-to-back girls soccer state champion and other bests and feats.
The fall season really got into gear with the Prairie Falcons winning an all-time great game against the Battle Ground Tigers on the gridiron. The fall season concluded with the Ridgefield High School girls soccer team winning a second straight state championship at the 2A level.
In the winter season, area basketball teams battled it out on the court while wrestlers gave it their all on the mat. One wrestler chased history and made it. Prairie’s Faith Tarrant achieved a state title at 235 pounds in each of her four high school seasons, the first in Clark County history to do so.
In the spring season, track and field had numerous athletes chase glory, including Prairie’s Will Foster with a 3A state title in both shot put and discus. In baseball, the La Center Wildcats found themselves deeper into the state tournament than any other team in school history as they earned second place in the 1A tournament.
