WSDOT “Good To Go!” warns drivers of toll payment scam

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is warning drivers about scam text messages impersonating the Good To Go! toll payment service and urging people to avoid clicking on suspicious links.

The scam messages appear to be from WSDOT’s online toll payment service, but direct recipients to a fake website designed to steal banking information. WSDOT stated clients will never receive text messages requesting payment in a March 19 news release.

WSDOT cautioned customers who receive a suspicious message to avoid clicking any links. Instead, they should log into their Good To Go! account directly to check for toll charges. Good To Go! only accepts payments through its official website and does not charge extra fees for online transactions.

Anyone who receives a fraudulent text is encouraged to file a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov. Reports should include the sender’s phone number or email address and the fraudulent website link, the news release stated.
