The Yacolt Classic and Custom Car Show hosted by Impact Automotive on Saturday, July 25, raised over $2,500 for the upcoming fifth annual Windhaven Ride for Veterans.
The community car show featured over 50 classic and custom rides, including cars, trucks and motorcycles, along with local vendors, raffles and more activities.
“We’ve done this for several years now, and just to see the people, we don't always get out to see everybody, and just the support of the community that shows up every single time I do an event,” Impact Automotive Owner Melissa Yahn said of her favorite part of this year’s event. “This car show, seeing people that don't necessarily drive as much anymore, we don't see their daily cars every day, but we get to see them showing off their pride and joy.”
Yahn added that plans for next year’s event during the final weekend of July are already underway as Impact Automotive will seek other North Clark County nonprofits.
American Legion Tum Tum Post 168 Amboy thanked Brad Yahn, Melissa McCoy-Yahn, Tara Scott and the entire Impact Automotive team, along with everyone who attended, volunteered, donated or otherwise supported the fundraiser.
“Brad and I have been involved with that from the very beginning,” Melissa Yahn said of Windhaven. “We also do some advertising with Lars Larson and just promote awareness for them.”
Melissa Yahn added that in November Impact Automotive provides free oil changes for veterans through the entire month.
The Windhaven Ride for Veterans will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Yacolt Community Church, 34502 NE Amboy Road in Yacolt. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and departure at about 10 a.m. Motorcycles, hot rods and classic cars are welcome on the fully escorted route through north Clark County.
The benefit ride raises money for mental health treatment for local veterans living with PTSD, trauma and other invisible wounds of military service. The Windhaven Veterans Program uses equine therapy, allowing veterans to work with horses as an alternative to traditional treatment approaches. The program has 81% completion rate, compared to dropout rates upwards of 68% in traditional veteran support programs.
Organizers encourage early registration online at amboytumtumpost168.org/wrfv-register. The fundraising campaign is still working toward its 2026 goal of $20,000 to support veterans. Donations can be made at amboytumtumpost168.org/wrfv_main.
