The Battle Ground Ace Hardware opened the doors of its new, bigger location in mid-August and recently held grand opening events and a ribbon cutting.

The store moved from its former location near the Battle Ground Safeway to its new location at 1605 W. Main St. It will continue to bring the company’s “unique” blend of nationally-recognized customer service and quality home maintenance expertise and products to Battle Ground residents in its new location, according to a news release from the Hi-School Pharmacy & Hardware company.

According to company officials, the store has been designed to reflect the needs of the Battle Ground community, including solutions to everyday home maintenance needs, as well as an extensive variety of high-quality products in categories such as paint, lawn and garden.

“Our mission is to provide customers with convenience combined with superior service through one-on-one expert advice and assistance,” said John Crawford, vice president of operations.

Jody Schauss will continue to be the store manager, and other familiar faces from their previous location will remain on the Ace Hardware staff.

“We look forward to continuing to be a helpful and valuable neighbor to the community, both inside and outside the walls of our store,” Schauss said.

The 12,000-square-foot retail space is packed with thousands of essential products and supplies, including some of the most respected brand names and best-selling items to help people take care of their homes. Key product offerings include paint, hardware, electrical, plumbing, automotive and home decor, as well as niche products such as Craftsman Tools, Valspar, Green Mountain Grills and Clark & Kensington Paint.

In addition, a 6,000-square-foot outdoor area will serve as a complete lawn and garden center.

“We are excited to have a larger store with more merchandise selection, especially the expanded garden center, which will be fully stocked with nursery stock in the spring,” said Geni Fontyn, advertising director.

Fontyn said that people sometimes have the misconception that Ace is just a hardware store and doesn’t pertain at all to woman, but she said the garden center is “going to be awesome.” The new garden center is enclosed and partially covered, and will be fully stocked with plants and other lawn and garden items in the spring.

“We had one (a garden center) at the other location, but it was out behind the building and it wasn’t very easy to get to,” Fontyn said.

In addition to the typical hardware store merchandise, Fontyn said the Ace Hardware store also carries carpet cleaning rentals and they also provide hunting and fishing licenses. The store also has a knife and scissor sharpener, propane, window and door screening, and plexiglass cutting, as well as a good houseware section with chemicals and cleaning supplies and plastic storage items.

The new store also has some expanded departments such as the paint department, plumbing and electrical. During the holidays, Fontyn said the store will carry some Christmas lighting and some other Christmas decor items.

Store hours at Ace Hardware are Mon.-Sat., 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sun., 9 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, call the store at (360) 702-0123.
