BGPS opens referrals to Aspire Highly Capable Program

Posted

Battle Ground Public Schools (BGPS) is accepting student referrals to the Aspire High Capable Program, which provides support to students demonstrating advanced academic abilities or potential. Referrals will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 6.

Students in grades K-12 accepted into the Aspire Highly Capable Program will begin receiving supportive services during the 2025-26 school year, a press release by BGPS stated.

Anyone may refer a student to the Aspire Program. The referred student must obtain written parental or guardian consent to take the Aspire Program’s Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), the press release stated.

The CogAT test assesses cognitive abilities rather than acquired knowledge. The CogAT consists of three verbal and three quantitative tests. Test results will be sent to student families in mid- to late-March 2025, the informational packet on the Aspire Program stated.

To refer a student, complete the referral packet available at any BGPS office. The form may also be obtained online at shorturl.at/Mrcwu and submitted via email to aspire@battlegroundps.org.
