Football schedules for next season are available through MaxPreps for all six coverage zone high schools, providing an early look at the biggest matchups under the lights of Friday nights.
This upcoming season is full of intriguing local meetings on the gridiron.
In week one, the Battle Ground Tigers are slated to host the Ridgefield Spudders in what could become a new North Clark County rivalry. Longstanding traditions like the Battle Ground versus Prairie rivalry game will continue, as well as Woodland taking on Kalama and La Center.
To ease scheduling and travel costs in the 4A Greater St. Helens League, which consists of just Battle Ground, Camas, Union and Skyview high schools, the teams will all play each other twice.
In week six, the 3A and 4A Greater St. Helens League will play a crossover with the top four teams going head to head, leading to Battle Ground versus Evergreen High School and Prairie taking on the Skyview Storm.
The 2A Greater St. Helens League has combined with the 2A Evergreen Conference and has been divided into three divisions to make up the new league of 12.
The north division is made up of Aberdeen, Black Hills, Tumwater and W.F. West. The central division is composed of Mark Morris, R.A. Long, Ridgefield and Woodland. Finally, the south division includes Columbia River, Hockinson, Hudson’s Bay and Washougal.
As for playoffs, the three division winners will earn an automatic bid into the 2A Week 10 state preliminary round. How other spots will be determined has not been decided.
The Ridgefield Spudders landed a meeting with Tumwater High School, a perennial powerhouse with three straight state runner up finishes, while the Woodland Beavers also have Tumwater and Aberdeen High School in back-to-back weeks. The Hockinson Hawks also landed a pair of new opponents in Black Hills and W.F. West (Chehalis) high schools.
