In Loving Memory Of Ronald Krause: 1936 ~ 2024

Posted

With a heavy heart, we announce we have lost our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Aug. 18, 2024. Ronald B. Krause had a wonderful life and was so loved by his family,

He was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Wolf Point, Montana. The family moved to Oregon when Ron was very young. While attending school, Ron always worked finding small jobs. His first job was delivering newspapers on his bike. Ron was in third grade. When the family moved to Vancouver, Ron worked at Esco Foundry Coca Cola Boring, then in 1967 Western Transportation or tugboats. Ron was at Western for 26 years, working on deck, and Ron also had his captain license. Ron retired in 1993.

On April 12, 1957, Ron married the love of his life, Deanna Olsen, and they just celebrated their 67th anniversary together.

In 1957, our son, Gary, was born and, 18 months later, daughter Terry. Ron and Deanna had a home built in the Ellsworth area where Gary and Terry attended elementary school and walked only two blocks to school.

Gary graduated from Evergreen High School in 1976. After 16 years, we bought the farm on Kelly Hill where Deanna grew up and attended Battle Ground schools. The farm was too much work for her parents, so they moved to a smaller place in Battle Ground. Ron enjoyed living on the farm, but elk season every year Ron was ready to help set up camp with his friends. He truly enjoyed hunting and his great hunting group.

We had many family gatherings at the farm every holiday, including family birthdays and all the grandchildren's birthdays. A lot of love and memories were made when Ron retired after 26 years at Western Transportation on the river.

We moved to Ocean Park on the coast where Ron enjoyed salmon fishing, clamming, driving the beach and finding glass floats.

Ron was a member of Elks, Moose and Eagles Lodge, He was trustee at the Eagles. Ron bowled for 10 years. He was also in a BCA pool league. Ron and Deanna teamed for 19 years. They enjoyed trips in their fifth wheel all over Washington state. They also traveled to Alaska, Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, and spent a couple months in Arizona for seven winters.

Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was the most loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna; son, Gary; sister, Marlene Norcross; brother, Richard Krause; sister-in-law, Donna Smith; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
