I applaud the letter from August Albers (Aug 21, 2024) for the political insights and would like to echo that with some of my own.
The media pays a great deal of attention to the great divide in our country. Certain politicians and partisans use that to great purpose, stoking fear and anger.
Frankly, I am tired of hearing about it. This great divide that they mention is not a chasm. Sometimes this great divide is no wider than the street where we live; sometimes it is no wider than the width of the kitchen table, and sometimes it is no greater than the separation of two chairs on the front porch.
This divide can be bridged. We just must make the effort.
