Paddle for Life Dragon Boat Festival returns to Ridgefield

Posted

Colorful boats, community spirit and competitive racing will return to Ridgefield’s waterfront for the Paddle for Life Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, Aug. 2.

More than 50 teams will compete in dragon boat heats from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Lake River near the Port of Ridgefield’s kayak launch, located at 109 W. Division St., Ridgefield.

Opening ceremonies begin at 8 a.m., followed by a special heat honoring breast cancer survivors. Races will continue throughout the day, with awards presented at 4:30 p.m., according to a press release by Paddle For Life.

The free, family-friendly event will also include local food and artisan vendors, wellness services and cancer awareness resources.

Proceeds benefit the Catch-22 Ospreys, Southwest Washington’s only all breast cancer survivor dragon boat team. Funds will help expand access to paddling and support outreach focused on healing, connection and the early detection of cancer.
