The Port of Ridgefield and the Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington will host a litter cleanup event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Ridgefield Waterfront. Volunteers will gather at the Ridgefield Waterfront boat ramp to help remove litter from the Lake River and other areas along the waterfront.

“The Watershed Alliance does great work for our community and the region, and we’re pleased to partner with them on another litter cleanup event,” Port of Ridgefield CEO Randy Mueller said in a news release. “Mid-September is when the water of Lake River is at its lowest point. By partnering and combining resources this time of year, we’re able to do more good for the environment and our community.”

Participants are encouraged to wear closed, waterproof footwear, such as boots or waders, as some cleanup areas may be below the waterline. Volunteers should also bring their own snacks and water. To register, visit thewatershedalliance.org/event/ridgefield-waterfront-cleanup.
