The 2025 Pac Coast wrestling tournament brought 75 teams from Oregon and Washington to the Clark County Event Center at the Clark County Fairgrounds on Monday, Dec. 29, and Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Several local programs finished in the top half of the field, led by Ridgefield’s boys team, which placed second overall.
Ridgefield finished with 213 points, trailing only Wapato High School, which won the team title with 230 points. The Spudders also crowned two individual champions, with junior Jonas DesRochers winning the 132-pound weight class and junior Mason DesRochers taking first at 144.
Ridgefield Coach Sean Schultz said his team set the tone early in the tournament and carried confidence throughout the two days.
“So far it’s been pretty good. Out of the 17 kids we brought, we went 14 to 3 in the first round. So we’re just looking to kind of build on that momentum going forward for the rest of the tournament,” Schultz said.
Schultz added that Ridgefield’s depth across the lineup has positioned the team well as the season moves toward postseason competition.
“We're looking pretty good, you know, we got a full lineup. We feel pretty confident moving forward with our duels,” Schultz said.
La Center placed 15th with 129 points and saw a standout performance in the 106-pound weight class. Freshman Dillon Regis won the division, while sophomore teammate Hunter Shirley finished second, falling only to Regis.
Prairie High School finished 17th with 127 points. Senior Tommie Vick contributed with a sixth-place finish at 138 pounds.
Battle Ground took 25th with 114.5 points. Junior Andrew Gray earned a second-place finish in the 157-pound division, while the Tigers also saw an encouraging return from one of their veterans.
Battle Ground coach Jake Motzkus highlighted the significance of seeing one of his top wrestlers back on the mat after an injury as the season progresses.
“Sixth place last year at state, 215-pound Emet Ordway … this was his first match back … he's coming off an injury and so it was really neat to see him get a dominant win there. So I'm excited for him for the rest of the season,” Motzkus said.
On the girls' side, Ridgefield’s was the highest scoring North Clark County team, reaching 23rd overall, with Junior Lillian Hulegaard earning first in the 125-pound weight class. Readers can find the results at flowrestling.org.
