River HomeLink in Battle Ground recently received the School on the Rise award from the Association of Washington Student Leaders and Association of Washington School Principals. River HomeLink is one of 21 Washington schools to receive the inaugural award.

The Association of Washington School Principals website states that the School on the Rise award recently launched to celebrate schools where students and adults collaborate to improve local culture and amplify students’ voices.

“This award is a testament to the level of collaboration and dedication that exists within the River HomeLink community,” River HomeLink Principal Matt Kesler said in a school press release. “By fostering an inclusive environment where families and staff work hand-in-hand, we empower our students to thrive at home and in the classroom.”

The school takes a special approach to student learning and encourages parents and guardians to be actively involved in their child’s education. Students and their families meet monthly with a school advisor to discuss learning goals, the school’s press release stated.

River HomeLink also uses a collective leadership approach that empowers staff through shared decision-making, the release stated.

River HomeLink, 610 SW Eaton Blvd., Battle Ground, is an accredited K-12 public school within the Battle Ground school district. To learn more about River HomeLink, visit riv.battlegroundps.org.
