Statewide ‘One More Stop’ emphasis to honor fallen WSP trooper

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is holding a statewide emphasis patrol in honor of fallen trooper Christopher Gadd on Friday, Sept. 27.

Gadd was killed after being struck by an impaired driver on Interstate 5 just north of Marysville on March 2. According to a news release, prior to his death, Gadd had messaged to his detachment members that he planned to meet with the for a break after “one more stop.”

The press release stated when he was parked on the side of I-5 with the intent of pulling over one last driver, he was struck by an impaired driver just north of Marysville.

According to the release, in honor of Gadd’s “dedication and sacrifice” that night, WSP will conduct an emphasis patrol titled “One More Stop” from 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, to 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.



“Trooper Gadd was a fine young man with a big heart and passion to serve the community — a true example of the best of us.” WSP Chief John R. Batiste said in a statement. “He made the ultimate sacrifice while working to make our roads a safer place."

"With this emphasis, we honor his memory by continuing his efforts to protect the community he dedicated his life to.”

During the patrol, officers across the state will work together to conduct traffic stops to continue the shared mission of reducing dangerous driving behaviors to save the lives of those traveling on Washington roadways, according to the release.
