A Clark County judge set a Yacolt man’s bail at $1 million following a shooting that left one man seriously injured and prompted a large police presence near Fargher Lake on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Jeremie Singer, 50, appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Wednesday, Oct. 9, on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder, domestic violence and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Singer is slated to be arraigned on Oct. 23.

According to a Clark County Sheriff’s Office news release, at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, CCSO deputies responded to the 1800 block of Northeast Beaver Brook Road after someone reported to 911 that a male had been shot in the head by another resident of the house, which was shared by multiple people.

According to the release, the injured male was transported by a family member to Northeast Fargher Lake Highway, which was shut down during the incident. Deputies contacted the man and his family member on the highway and found the man with serious injuries. According to the release, he “appeared to have been shot with a shotgun.” The man was said to be alert and able to communicate with deputies. He remains in serious but stable condition at an area hospital, as of Friday, Oct. 11.

By 9:37 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, deputies detained Singer, the suspected shooter, at the residence.

According to the news release, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded, and detectives learned the victim and his family had been living at the residence and “had a contentious relationship” with Singer, who was their housemate and landlord.

Deputies had responded to the residence and filed an informational report about a “landlord/tenant dispute” involving the residents a few days prior. As well, detectives learned that both Singer and the victim “had made claims of previous threats against one another.”

The victim was reported to have left the residence for several days before returning the day of the shooting to “gather some belongings, where it is alleged that Jeremie shot him in the face and chest with a 12-gauge shotgun through the front window of the home.”
