Letter to the Editor: Deciding definition of ‘politically active’ a slippery slope

Posted

Editor,

Anne Haller, of Washougal, wants to penalize churches who are “politically active.” But who decides what “politically active” means? Who sets the standard? This is a dangerous path Haller wants to walk. One only needs to recall the decision by Henry VIII to declare himself head of the church in England. The subsequent terrorism visited upon religious men and women depended upon whether the current monarch was a Catholic or a Protestant.
