Vancouver Symphony Orchestra to open new season with Spanish Brass

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will hold its first symphony of the 2024/2025 season at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Skyview Concert Hall, 1300 NW 139 St., Vancouver. The performance will highlight the addition of the award-winning ensemble Spanish Brass.

Spanish Brass is composed of Carlos Grau and Juanjo Salvador on the trumpet, Manuel Ortega on the horn, Indalecio Manrique on the trombone and Sergio Finca Quirós on the tuba. The ensemble has traveled the world to various festivals and won the Spanish National Music Award in 2020, a press release from the orchestra stated.

Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Music Director and conductor Salvador Brotons will lead the symphony with a personal work titled “Brass Quintet Concerto,” commissioned by Spanish Brass, the press release stated.



Tickets to the performance will be available Tuesday, Sept. 3, at vancouversymphony.org.
