Battle Ground home decor business owner excited to celebrate five years

Like other businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Battle Ground’s downtown home decor shop faced a series of challenges shortly after opening in 2019. Soon, Finishing Touch will launch its fifth-anniversary celebration, highlighting its success on Main Street.

Dianna Perry, Finishing Touch owner, was inspired to start her own business after years of working in home decor. She said she most enjoys arranging decorations in her store, inspiring customers to adorn their own homes.

“It has always been my dream to open a home decor store,” Perry said. “I love decorating, I love inspiring people with fun products.”

Finishing Touch opened the summer before the COVID-19 pandemic. Perry’s business received unwavering support from the Battle Ground community, which sustained the store during its temporary transition to remote work. She believes that underscores the tight-knit nature of her hometown.

“They supported me then, and when my doors were open, they just started coming in. The support they have given me over the years has been huge,” Perry said. “...Over the years, my customers have become friends and family of Finishing Touch.”

In the five years since its initial opening, Finishing Touch has filled more of its space with decorations and themes. In addition, the family-owned business recently gained a new member, who has become popular with guests.

“Maverick is my shop dog. He’s a little Corgi. He’s got quite a little fan base here. People come in through the door and ask, ‘Is Maverick here?’ If I say ‘nope,’ they’ll turn around and leave,” Perry chuckled.

Perry likes to decorate the shop with a seasonal theme, making Finishing Touch a place for regulars to drop by frequently. The store currently features American flag-themed tableware, cups and decorative gnomes in preparation for the Fourth of July. Perry said she looks forward to giving Main Street a fun place to visit for the next five years.

“It’s been a wonderful experience, and very heartwarming,” Perry said. “It’s a dream come true. I still can’t believe I did it, that I’m doing it.”

Finishing Touch will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Saturday, June 22, after a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. A raffle for guests to win various prizes will be held during the event, and light refreshments will be provided. Finishing Touch is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at 513 E. Main St. For more information, go to finishingtouchllc.myshopify.com, or call 360-342-8320.
