“Live in 3, 2, 1” is a comedy play set in a 1939 television studio. A Hollywood team planning to stage a live performance of a Western loses its director to severe illness before the performance, an assistant producer is placed in charge with an hour’s notice before air time. The story will follow the challenges and hijinks the assistant producer faces as she tries to bring the show together before the performance, including “temperamental actors, technical challenges, a nosy Variety reporter who wants to expose the cowboy action hero as a fraud, and a Texas boyfriend who has suddenly chosen now as the time to try to rekindle their romance,” the release stated.

Bareford describes the narrative as “a high-wire act without a safety net.” Stakes are high during live television production. Despite comedic incidents, the intensity of live broadcasting comes through in both the script and the acting, Bareford said in the press release.

“Live in 3, 2, 1” features cast members Kristen Svenson as Reggie, Cody Swires as Ben Cooper, Eric Wright as Chance Adams, Lou Pallotta as David Sarnoff and Henry Gibbons, Katie Norcross as Tallulah Foster, Nicole Harwood as Edith, Jack Harvison as Harold Parris and Johnny, Julisa Wright as Charlie Wright, and Joyel Niño as Ilona Varga.

Bareford has written numerous play scripts, including “Seeking Mister Hyde,” “Robin Hood” and “Don Quixote de La Center.” “Live in 3, 2, 1” is his most ambitious project to date because it is farce comedy, which entertains the audience through exaggeration and absurdity, the release stated.

“Farce as a genre is already challenging, both to write and perform, because its comedy requires absolute precision and efficiency. Even a little unspecific movement or two or three extra words can kill a joke or tamp down the frantic energy,” Bareford said in the release.

Love Street Playhouse was founded in 2007 with the vision of having a community theater where the “participation by and for the community of Woodland, Washington, would help create a cultural space to learn and grow,” according to the theater’s website.
