Letter to the Editor: Gluesenkamp Perez accomplishing positive results

Posted

Editor,

I support Marie Gluesenkamp Perez for the Third District of Washington for Congress. She believes in working in bipartisan ways. For instance, Gluesenkamp Perez has been working steadily on bipartisan bills to make the lives of veterans better. Recently, she has added amendments to the military appropriations bill to include money to support transportation and infrastructure tor vets and voted against the “senseless, partisan culture wars” amendments that were added by the “extreme members of Congress,” according to a Gluesenkamp Perez newsletter. She also has secured $21 million for community projects such as Heights District infrastructure, several wastewater treatment projects in modernization of safety radio communication in Skamania County and industrial rail corridor expansion in Cowlitz County. Not bad for a freshman congressperson.

She has introduced 48 bipartisan bills, cosponsored 16 bipartisan bills that have passed the House of Representatives and has taken bipartisan votes 76% of the time, according to Bipartisan Index Georgetown University, 2023. That adds up to a bipartisan ranking of 12th in the House and fifth in her party. I support her because she wants the Congress to be functional, both for rural and urban citizens, regardless of political party.
